- ➤ On April 22nd at 1:53 p.m., authorities began investigating a bank robbery at the BMO branch at 78 N. Chicago St. in downtown Joliet where a man handed a teller a note demanding money and fled with cash—he is described as a Black male between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9 with a heavier build, wearing a black zip-up sweater, dark pants and white shoes. - ➤ A Will County judge denied pretrial release for Jaquan Blalock—age 19—charged with the first-degree murder of 16-year-old Antoine Shropshire, who was shot 25 times near a playground and community center on May 30. Judge Sarah Jones ruled that Blalock must remain in jail under the SAFE-T Act to protect public safety. Herald-News
- ➤ On Monday afternoon, police said a man robbed the BMO bank at 78 N. Chicago St. by handing a teller a note demanding cash, and no weapons or injuries were reported while the FBI investigated the incident. Herald-News
- ➤ Maria Aiello, a former Will County investigator, was sentenced Tuesday to serve 85% of an eight-year prison term after driving 111 mph under the influence in a 2022 crash in Joliet that killed psychologist Dr. Ednalice Pagan-Romney—she had already served 422 days in jail and 551 days on electronic monitoring.
