CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Drew Lynch, celebrated from America's Got Talent, will perform at Rialto Square Theatre downtown on Saturday, Jan. 31 (tickets start at $37.50).  Herald-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A section of the Joliet Junction Trail from McDonough Street to Moen Avenue is closed for Interstate 80 construction. The Forest Preserve District said the closure began on Jan. 26 (it will last until March 21) and may extend (inclement weather could delay reopening).  Herald-News
  • The Ruby Street bridge in downtown Joliet remains closed for emergency repairs as IDOT said — repair evaluations are ongoing and no reopening timeline was given; motorists must find alternate routes across the Des Plaines River.  Herald-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Will County Health Department will host a walk-in vaccination clinic Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at its Community Room (501 Ella Ave. in Joliet) offering RSV vaccines for infants up to 8 months, COVID-19 shots for all ages, and low-cost flu shots for the uninsured.  Herald-News

  • Will County Humane Society and NAWS Humane Society feature Pets of the Week — including Glacier, a 2-year-old terrier needing a female-only home or a patient owner, Audrey, a reserved 7-year-old cat, Baldr, a friendly 8-year-old hound mix, Lotus, Honey, and Spooky — with adoption details available online.  Herald-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Over the weekend, Lockport boys basketball honored veterans with a 56 to 36 win and Wilmington recorded two overtime victories, while dance and wrestling teams captured sectional titles — teams from Lockport, Joliet Catholic and others advanced in key matchups, setting the stage for state competition.  Herald-News
