- ➤ Joliet Catholic Academy will seek approval for new on-campus sports facilities when its stadium plan is scheduled for a City Council vote early in the new year — possibly Jan. 20, though the date is unconfirmed. Neighbors continue to express concerns over traffic, noise and lights. Herald-News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ DePaul Prep beat Joliet West 63-36 (Tuesday) at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament as quick scoring surges in the second and third quarters helped the Rams pull away. Joliet West will face Homewood-Flossmoor at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the tournament’s fifth-place bracket. Herald-News
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Providence girls won the Sandburg Holiday Tournament title by defeating Lincoln-Way East 69-48, with MVP Landrie Callahan scoring 30 points & collecting 14 rebounds. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet Catholic lost to Quincy Notre Dame in the State Farm Holiday Classic Small Schools championship at Illinois Wesleyan University Tuesday night. The team finished 8-4 on the year (improving from last season) and coach Adam DeGroot said five days in Bloomington helped prepare them for upcoming playoffs. Herald-News
