- ➤ Newman boys basketball won a 68-65 overtime victory over Byron on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Forreston Holiday Tournament, improving to 10-0—their first title since 2018. Coach Ray Sharp said the team rallied after a slow start to boost their season. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet Central beat Romeoville 67-36 in its varsity girls basketball game on Thursday night, Dec. 18 — sealing a strong home win. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet West edged Plainfield East 50-48 Friday night in a close boys basketball game in Joliet. Coach Kreiger said his team built resilience with key defensive stops after trailing by eight early and improved to a 6-3 record. Herald-News
