- ➤ Joliet Park District officials announced Wednesday morning that there will be no Taste of Joliet in 2026, with plans to return a reimagined festival in 2027. Executive Director Brad Staab and board President Sue Gulas said the decision comes after 20 years of hosting major music acts. Herald-News

- ➤ Grammy Award-winning KC and the Sunshine Band, known for hits like 'That's the Way' & 'Boogie Shoes', will perform at the new Hollywood Casino Joliet on Saturday, Jan. 24, promising a lively show for local audiences. Herald-News
- ➤ Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet hosts two holiday events: local radio talent performs 'It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play' at 7 p.m. today, and tribute artist Dean Z presents Ultimate Elvis Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 (tickets starting at $15.50 and $35). Herald-News

- ➤ Peotone's freshman Payton Pape hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to give the Blue Devils a 35-32 win over Wilmington at the Iroquois West Holiday Hoops Tournament yesterday. The win settled a three-way tiebreaker (a tight contest) and earned her team all-tournament honors. Herald-News
- ➤ The Times Sports staff announced the 2025 Times All-Area Football Team featuring 44 top players from local schools (Seneca, Marquette, Fieldcrest, Ottawa, Streator, FCW, and Sandwich) chosen for strong stats in yards, tackles, and touchdowns. Herald-News
- ➤ Andrew Calderon of Minooka scored 20 goals and 4 assists last season, helping his boys soccer team move from a losing record to a 19-3 finish in the Southwest Prairie Conference and win the Herald-News Boys Soccer Player of the Year honor. Herald-News
- ➤ The Herald-News has revealed its 2025 All-Area Boys Soccer Team to honor top local players based on season performance. The first team includes Andrew Calderon, who scored 20 goals, and others who earned key honors through goals and assists. Herald-News
- ➤ On Wednesday, a quadrangular wrestling meet saw Seneca and Ottawa Marquette each earn a 2-1 record while Seneca hosted its evening (Pack the ‘Rock Night’ with a food drive) as they competed against Reed-Custer and Pontiac to gain early-season momentum. Herald-News
