- ➤ Pace launched its new VanGo carpool service at the Joliet Gateway Center on Dec. 4 to help hybrid workers cover the last mile. Drivers pay $2.50 and must finish online training and tests before using a Dodge Caravan or Ford Transit van (available for small or larger groups). Herald-News

- ➤ The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the westbound I-80 ramp to Larkin Avenue is closed from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. for interchange rebuild work; drivers are advised to use the detour via Houbolt Road & Jefferson Street. Herald-News

- ➤ Lockport boys basketball stayed unbeaten with a win of 64 to 50 over Lincoln Way West on Friday, and Plainfield East edged Joliet Central 56 to 50 with KJ Miller scoring 14, while other local teams secured wins + boosting the community sports roundup. Herald-News
- ➤ On Thursday night, Layla Lesure led the Plainfield South girls to a 52-40 win over Joliet West by scoring 22 points & collecting 16 rebounds, as the 10-player team forced 26 turnovers with strong defense. Herald-News
- ➤ CCL/ESCC Early Signing Day ran from Wednesday to Friday, with football players committing to Division I programs such as Army, Illinois, and Miami (all top choices), marking a significant step for local athletes. Herald-News
- ➤ Quarterback Jonas Williams of Lincoln-Way East was named Illinois Gatorade Football Player of the Year after posting 2,488 yards and 35 touchdowns this season (he broke state records in career passing yards and touchdowns). He will enroll at USC in the spring. Herald-News
- ➤ Elliana Fowler (back from injury) led Joliet Central to a 68-23 win over Plainfield East last Thursday with 22 points, easing pressure on teammates. The Steelmen will travel to Bolingbrook on Tuesday as they build on this win. Herald-News
- ➤ Marquette Academy beat Seneca 53-32 in their conference opener on Friday night. Junior guard Griffin Dobberstein tied his career high with 28 points after a shutout second quarter + Seneca’s offense struggled to keep pace. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet West took charge on Friday night as turnovers and rebounds helped the Tigers secure a 52-25 win over Plainfield South — the Cougars struggled after their key players changed. Now 3-3, Joliet West will play at Oswego on Tuesday. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet West wrestlers recorded a 26th straight SPC East dual win by beating Plainfield South 52-19 on Wednesday at a local school meet (extending their conference dominance). Herald-News
- ➤ Friday Night Drive Podcast, hosted by Matt Rodewald and local sports veteran Steve Soucie, recapped the IHSA Class 8A-5A state title games — reviewing high school football highlights statewide — for local fans. Herald-News
