  • Joliet Jewish Congregation is beginning its search for a new rabbi after Rabbi Jenny Steinberg-Martinez left to lead Stepping Stones Treatment Center on Oct. 15—members, including a mix from nearby areas, now rely on Rabbi Emeritus Rubovits for occasional support and guidance—while continuing traditional services and community events.  Herald-News
  • Darra Glavan donated a Norway spruce that will light up City Square as the Christmas tree for the Light Up the Holidays Festival and Parade on Nov. 28 — the 35-foot tree, planted decades ago by her late husband, was moved downtown more than an hour early with ease.  Herald-News

  • Providence and Bolingbrook played a 5A varsity football playoff game at Providence on November 15th—Providence’s Broden Mackert scored a touchdown that helped his team push ahead.  Herald-News
  • Providence defeated Washington 39-6 on Nov. 15—advancing to the IHSA Class 5A semifinals where they will face the winner of Saturday’s Oak Forest-Peoria quarterfinal for a chance to play in the state championship at Hancock Stadium.  Herald-News
  • Benet Academy defeated Lockport by scores of 25 to 23 and 25 to 16 (Friday’s state semifinal at CEFCU Arena), advancing to its fourth straight state title game and setting up a rematch with Marist. The win marked another milestone for the Redwings as they aim to break through this season.  Herald-News
  • Lockport senior Bridget Ferriter led her team with 15 kills and 13 digs on Saturday night in a Class 4A third-place game at CEFCU Arena — her efforts fueled a 21-25, 25-23, 25-16 comeback win over Fremd that capped the season on a high note.  Herald-News
  • Wilmington beat Tri-Valley 49-7 in the IHSA Class 2A quarterfinal on Saturday—five quick touchdown drives and strong defense pushed the Wildcats into the state semifinals where they will face El Paso-Gridley next weekend.  Herald-News
  • IHSA announced the semifinal pairings for the 2025 playoffs with matchups drawn for Classes 8A1, 7A, 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A, with games scheduled for set dates and times.
