- ➤ Joliet Public Schools District 86 held its annual Principal for a Day Celebration today as community and business members shadowed 21 school principals and helped with student arrival, morning announcements, classes, lunch, and recess duties + getting a firsthand look at school operations. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln-Way West’s boys soccer team, seeded 12th, beat top seed Stagg 1-0 in the Class 3A Joliet West Sectional when Cohen Cox scored in the first half with help from Michael Sallese; they will play Saturday against the winner of Wednesday's game between Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way East. - ➤ Joliet West defeated Joliet Central 25-15, 25-12 on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to 17 games and improve their record to 33-3, setting up a postseason win. The Tigers will meet Yorkville in the Oswego East Regional finals on Thursday at 6 p.m.—a key matchup in their playoff run. Herald-News
- ➤ Tehya Knapp led Yorkville to a 25-21, 16-25, 25-22 win over Oswego East in the Class 4A regional semifinal with two early third-set kills and two more to set match point—helping the team rally from an early deficit. The Foxes will face Joliet West in the regional final on Thursday. Herald-News
- ➤ Morton Mustangs beat Downers Grove South 2-1 on Tuesday to advance to Saturday's sectional final. Several regional volleyball teams, including winners from Timothy Christian and Nazareth, also secured their victories in Tuesday's matchups. Herald-News
- ➤ Plainfield North rallied late to defeat Lincoln-Way Central 25-21, 19-25, 25-19 in Tuesday night’s regional semifinal on the Knights’ court—key plays from Rylee Richards helped the Tigers advance to face Lockport in Thursday’s championship game. Herald-News
- ➤ Montini shut out St. Laurence 23-0 to win the CCL/ESCC White Division title and extend its 19-game win streak, while Joliet Catholic beat Providence 30-27 to secure the Orange Division title and a playoff berth on Friday. St. Patrick defeated St. Viator 44-21 (claiming the Purple Division title), and Marian Catholic, Carmel and Brother Rice also won key games (sealing their division crowns). Herald-News
- ➤ The Daily Journal report shows that 10 of 15 area schools made the playoffs, with Bradley Bourbonnais, Kankakee and Bishop McNamara marking a first for city schools by reaching the postseason together. Wilmington's Wildcats recorded a dominant win over Coal City with over 500 rushing yards and Herscher will face Bishop McNamara in the first round playoff game on Friday. Herald-News
