GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Joliet City Council committee recommended a lease for Casa Catrina Mexican Heritage Cuisine to operate in the former MyGrain Brewing space at Union Station and possibly restart the brewery. - ➤ The Lockport Township Fire Protection District broke ground on its new training facility in Crest Hill, but the planned police firing range was dropped when the city pulled its funding two weeks before the ceremony. Board members expressed disappointment — extra design costs and delays have led them to seek compensation from the city while the land is set to remain undeveloped for green space. Herald-News

- ➤ Lincoln-Way East lost 21-13 to Sandburg on Thursday night as injuries forced key players like quarterback Jonas Williams and receiver Blaise LaVista—who left with a knee injury—to miss much of the game. The Eagles nearly rallied before Sandburg’s late touchdown secured the win, and coach Rob Zvonar said reinforcements are coming Monday to help fix the issues. Herald-News
- ➤ Reed-Custer rallied to beat Momence 4 to 3 and move on to the regional final, with Matthew Kuban scoring twice and Jayden Bustos giving three assists (they will face Manteno on Saturday). Other games saw wins for Minooka and Providence in boys soccer and strong results in girls volleyball from Lincoln-Way East and Bolingbrook. Herald-News
