- ➤ El Flamingo Bar & Grill will fill the empty restaurant space at the Louis Joliet Mall entrance near the JC Penney store with Caribbean dishes. - ➤ Suburban Life-area high school teams face one final week to earn playoff spots as many need wins Friday to secure home games—unbeaten Montini and Riverside-Brookfield lead the race amid a tight seeding battle. - ➤ Plainfield South’s team improved when freshman quarterback Armani Ford led them to a 49-0 win over Joliet Central and they will host Romeoville next as they seek a playoff chance—Coach Brosman praised Ford’s steady growth this season. Joliet West and Joliet Central revived their old rivalry with a Friday night game returning after more than 30 years—coaches said the new time creates a lively, competitive tone in local high school football. - ➤ In Week 8 of high school football, Mount Carmel was the only undefeated team among schools with large enrollments while Lincoln-Way East lost to Naperville North without star quarterback Jonas Williams — marking a rare setback.
