  • The Friends of the Joliet Public Library will hold a fall book sale from Oct 24 to 26 at the Ottawa Street Branch—members get early access Friday night and everyone can browse on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while a $4 bag sale on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. will raise funds to support library programs.  Herald-News
  • Joliet residents asked for clear answers on Bicentennial Park after park manager Lori Carmine was placed on leave. City officials said they will not comment on personnel matters while outside lawyers investigate issues—community members urge a public meeting to discuss the park’s future and its role in local theater.  Herald-News

  • Kiley Sanborn shot a 2-over par 74 at Springbrook Golf Course on Monday to help Plainfield North girls golf reach state for the second straight year—Lockport girls and teams in other sports also earned state spots.  Herald-News
  • Lockport hosted the IHSA varsity boys class 3A sectional at Wedgewood Golf Course in Plainfield on October 6 — Lockport’s Joseph Eaton competed at the 10th hole during the event.  Herald-News
  • Lincoln-Way Central's boys golf team won the Class 3A Lockport Sectional at Wedgewood on Monday with a score of 295—edging Lincoln-Way East by one stroke—to earn a spot in the state tournament at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington this weekend.  Herald-News
  • Joliet Catholic won against Notre Dame 16 to 7 on Friday to move to 2—4 and keep its postseason hopes alive as the defense recorded seven sacks and kicker Vinnie DiNovo made three field goals. The Hilltoppers face their toughest challenge Friday night at Joliet Memorial Stadium when undefeated Mt—Carmel comes to town.  Herald-News
  • The 2025 IHSA football playoff outlook for the Chicago Catholic League/East Suburban Catholic Conference shows that Mount Carmel and Montini have clinched automatic bids and teams like Brother Rice, Nazareth and Fenwick are still chasing wins with three weeks left in the season — many teams need victories to secure their postseason spots.  Herald-News
