- ➤ Sought Out Grounds, a downtown coffee shop that opened in May, has changed its name to Social Butterfly Coffee—focusing on live events and a seasonal menu. It offers a range of drinks and snacks and is located at 310 N Ottawa St. Herald-News
- ➤ Don Hamacher, a former music teacher in Illinois, co-founded the Dog n Suds fast-food chain in Champaign and built it into a well-known brand in the 1960s and 1970s—today only 15 locations operate mostly in the Midwest. Herald-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lockport Township High School has started a new rule where students put their phones in 'Porter Pockets' as they enter classrooms so they can focus on learning. The change, announced by student board members, affects both East and Central campuses — phone use in hallways is banned and strict discipline will follow rule violations. Herald-News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Sophia Podmolik led Joliet Central girls golf to medalist honors with a score of 77—tying for first—and helped her team perform strongly at the Pontiac Invite as other local teams in soccer, volleyball and cross country posted varied results on Monday. Herald-News
- ➤ Plainfield East is turning its season around with a 55-6 win over Joliet Central that brought its record to 3-0 under first-year coach Dan Stekala. Romeoville has also started 3-0 while Plainfield North, despite a 21-9 effort against Oswego East, remains winless — each team now braces for tougher matchups ahead. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet West swept Lincoln-Way West with scores of 25-17 and 25-13 on Monday as the Tigers improved their record to 17-3—Lexie Grevengoed led with nine kills while the team built early leads that halted late rally attempts from the Warriors.
