- ➤ Monica Cicimov bought C&C Vision Gallery on N. Chicago St. after serving as its office manager and now runs the eye care practice that offers bilingual services, eye exams and treatment for dry eyes for Joliet residents. She credits support from Dr. Cassie Reeves and improved downtown parking—along with her own determination—to keep the business thriving in the community. Herald-News
- ➤ Goodfellas Cigar Lounge opened on Sept. 3 at 2138 W. Jefferson St in Joliet — it now serves as a tobacco store and hookah lounge offering the largest cigar selection in town, housed in the former Super China Buffet next to Rax Roast Beef. Herald-News

- ➤ The Illinois Rock & Roll Museum hosted its Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet on Sept. 14—Joliet native Sheryl Youngblood performed during the event. Herald-News
- ➤ On Sept. 13, Joliet’s Collins Street hosted the Fiestas Patrias Mexican Independence Day parade, where a large crowd gathered to enjoy music, flags, colorful floats and live bands despite an increased ICE presence amid Operation Midway Blitz. Local organizers said the event—now a 60-year tradition—reignited community pride after last year’s cancellation. Herald-News

- ➤ The Will County Center for Community Concerns announced that eligible Joliet residents can apply for the Energy Assistance Program starting Oct. 1—to help pay for natural gas, propane, and electric bills as well as furnace repairs. Priority is given to households with seniors, disabilities, young children, or those disconnected from utilities, while other qualifying applicants may apply on Nov. 1 until funding is exhausted next August. - ➤ Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar died at 79—he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February and served as governor from 1991 to 1999. FOX 32
