  • The Joliet Christian Women’s Connection will hold a catered luncheon at Messiah Lutheran Church—40 Houbolt Road—from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, where inspirational speaker Sue McConnaughy from Dixon will share her story and Lightways Hospice & Serious Illness Care will discuss its compassionate care, with $20 plates available and reservations due by Sept. 10.  Herald-News
  • The Rotary Club of Joliet begins its annual cash raffle today with a $10,000 first prize to raise funds for repairing the deteriorated wall at the Boys & Girls Club pool—tickets cost $100 each and the raffle runs through noon Oct.21 with winners drawn at 12:15 pm at the Jacob Henry Mansion.  Herald-News
  • The Herald-News presents this week’s Pets of the Week in Will County, featuring Liam—a 3-year-old Basset Hound mix rescued from a trailer cage, Sweet Man—a 2-year-old tabby who has grown friendly, Happy Hank—a 4-year-old pug mix looking for a family, Truffles—a 20-week-old ginger who is full of play, Gus—a curious kitty who once stole a chicken carcass, and Bella—a laid-back feline needing to be the only pet at home.   • Joliet Township High School District 204 was honored with a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International for its annual report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024—marking its 38th consecutive year of participation and commitment to fiscal integrity.  Herald-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local Catholic teams started strong in Week 2 of the CCL/ESCC as Nazareth beat Morgan Park 33-6 and will face top-ranked Mount Carmel later this week—St. Francis and Fenwick also posted wins with strong plays from their quarterbacks and receivers. Other teams including Brother Rice, IC Catholic, and Montini won as the season heats up.  Herald-News
  • Glenbard West beat Joliet Catholic 27—21 Saturday to improve its record to 2—0 as senior quarterback Jack Walti stepped up with a 58—yard touchdown pass late in the game—helping the team hold off a strong drive before entering a tough West Suburban Silver conference race.  Herald-News
  • Herald-News published a detailed schedule for high school sports from September 7 to September 13, 2025 — the schedule lists past contests and upcoming matches in sports such as volleyball, soccer, golf, and cross country from local teams including Joliet Catholic and Joliet Central.   • Lincoln-Way East’s defense has not allowed a point this season—supporting quarterback Jonas Williams as he climbs the IHSA record books after a 41-0 win over Kankakee. Local Joliet Central saw rising star Tristen Sellers rush for 226 yards—marking the team’s second best offensive output in recent years despite a loss to West Chicago.  Herald-News
  • Joliet Central won a 4-0 soccer match over Joliet Catholic last night—four different players scored while the defense held them scoreless. Coach Ulises Ornelas said the team improved in the second half and will focus on discipline in upcoming games.  Herald-News
