HEALTH NEWS

  • The Will County Health Department doubled its red Narcan boxes from 10 to 20 to help reduce opioid overdose deaths in the county—new boxes have been placed at sites such as Lewis University and the Recovery Community Center in Joliet. Officials say the expanded program will give more residents access to free Narcan and offer necessary training for its use.  Herald-News

  • The Herald-News preview capsules detail 2025 area girls cross country teams by listing key returning runners and promising newcomers from schools like Joliet Catholic, Joliet West, Lemont, and others.   • Joliet West won a high school volleyball match on Thursday by beating Joliet Catholic 25-14, 25-19 even though they played without Faith Jordan, and key players like Penny Wagner and Na’Riah Autman helped push the Tigers (7-1) to a strong win.  Herald-News
  • De La Salle defeated Lockport 3-2 in the Windy City Classic final at Reavis on Thursday night. Lockport, which scored first with a goal by Krystian Rafacz, will use the loss as a building block — focusing on attacking speed and teamwork in their training week.  Herald-News
