  • Local high school sports on Saturday gave early season results. Peotone beat Granite City 41-7 in football while Plainfield North, Lincoln-Way West and Minooka won games in volleyball, soccer, cross country and flag football—shaping early standings.  Herald-News
  • Marist girls volleyball team swept Lockport in the Gold Bracket championship at the Plainfield North Invite on Saturday — the team improved to a 5–0 record after a close first set and a more decisive second set.  Herald-News
  • Fieldcrest honored alumnus and Cincinnati Bengals tight end Cam Grandy during halftime of Friday's game against Tri-Valley by presenting him with a sign featuring his picture and logos that will be displayed on the school’s field. Coach Nick Meyer praised Grandy’s return and noted that Minonk Mayor Russell Ruestman authorized the installation—designed by graduate Will Wyss—to celebrate his achievements.  Herald-News
