Joliet police will host National Night Out today at Memorial Stadium from 5 to 8 p.m. where families can enjoy a bike rodeo, a touch-a-truck and giveaways — nearby areas hold their own events later this week.

On Sunday, the Joliet Fire Department responded to a porch fire on the 1700 block of Great Falls Drive at 5 p.m. and extinguished the heavy flames within 90 minutes while a neighbor's alert helped one occupant safely exit; the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
