Good morning, Joliet.

Jacoby Hamilton, 20, of Crest Hill pleaded guilty on July 15 to causing the reckless homicide that killed Joliet couple Walter Buddy Kretzler, 65, and Roxane Holt, 59—credit for 437 days served reduces his total prison time to about 9.6 months despite a four-year sentence.

Mayor D’Arcy said Joliet needs more apartments if it wants city workers to live in the city—he noted that while nearby towns have built many apartments, Joliet has mostly full single-family homes.

The City Council approved a union contract allowing workers to live up to 50 miles away, and some residents argue this move sends the wrong message to the community.
