Good morning, Joliet.
Maryln Villalobos, a 54-year-old caregiver from Orland Park, was charged after police say she tried to flush stolen jewelry and cash from a 90-year-old resident at an assisted living facility in Shorewood on Monday at 1:40 p.m.—officers recovered some items and arrested her on multiple charges.
Joliet City Council approved a firefighters contract last week that lifts the residency rule for city employees, ending a policy that required union workers to live in the city.
City leaders said the change—offering 2.5% pay raises over four years and continued 2016 health insurance rates—is needed to attract new workers amid low housing inventory.
