- ➤ An 83-year-old Joliet woman, Okcha Elliott, died at 12:08 p.m. on Wednesday at Saint Joseph Medical Center after a vehicle crash at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood that officials said was tied to a medical incident — police are investigating the case. Herald-News

- ➤ On Wednesday morning, police in Joliet responded to Kerrie Swick’s call for help moving her elderly Labrador retriever Bear from her home in the 500 block of Springwood Drive—police found he had been left outside since 8 p.m. the previous evening without food, water or shelter and was suffering from heat stroke at around 110 degrees—leading to his euthanasia and Swick’s arrest for aggravated animal cruelty just before 2:40 p.m. WGN-TV
- ➤ A Joliet woman was charged with aggravated animal cruelty after her elderly dog suffered from heat stroke and was later euthanized—Kerrie Swick contacted animal control at 9:30 a.m. on July 3 from her home on Springwood Drive and was booked into Will County jail. FOX 32
