GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers in Will County met on June 25 at Harrah’s Casino in Joliet to discuss the record state budget and possible spending changes later this year — they noted that lower federal funds might force tax adjustments. The lawmakers said they may meet again before the veto session in October to review spending — more talks will address revenue and service funding challenges. Herald-News
- ➤ Governor JB Pritzker announced his re-election campaign for a third term on Thursday, June 26th at 8:00 a.m. CDT and pledged to build on the progress his administration made since 2019. He began a two-day tour with stops in Rockford, Peoria, Springfield, Belleville — and West Frankfort to reach voters statewide. FOX 32
