Good morning, Joliet.

Former Joliet Township trustee Karl Ferrell, 45, faces 16 felony charges for pandemic relief fraud and other financial crimes after a judge on Tuesday denied his motion to dismiss the case—his lawyer argued that using confidential unemployment records broke the law and a status hearing is set for July 21.

Belmont Little League, one of the country’s oldest youth baseball organizations, received a $28,000 donation from the Joliet Rotary Club and support from the Joliet Slammers and other local businesses to upgrade its ballpark.

The upgrades include new outfield fences and a dedicated T-ball field—efforts that aim to secure the league’s 74-year legacy in Joliet.
