Good morning, Joliet.

PENN Entertainment says Hollywood Casino Joliet will open on Monday, Aug.

11 pending regulatory approvals—its $185 million facility will offer 1,000 slots, 43 live table games and a restaurant by Giada De Laurentiis near the I-80 and I-55 interchange. Officials report Hollywood Casino Aurora remains on track to open in early 2026.

Mayor Terry D'Arcy delivered his first State of the City Address on May 28, focusing on Joliet's renaissance with major downtown projects, a new casino at Rock Run Collection, and plans to revitalize the Louis Joliet Mall corridor—he said these efforts, along with lower violent crime and a 45% rise in retail sales, signal a promising future while City Hall modernizes operations and builds stronger regional ties.
