Joliet’s Mexican Independence Day Parade is set to return this year after skipping 2024 as City Council votes today to close Collins Street for the event scheduled on Sept.

13, with the holiday celebrated on Sept. 16. Local organizers & community leaders are calling for volunteers to support the 60-year tradition.

Starting June 1, ComEd customers will face a 45% rate hike as the electricity supply charge rises to about 10 cents per kilowatt-hour—this increase is expected to add roughly $10.60 on average to monthly bills for the next year, and customers are encouraged to use bill-assistance programs.
