ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crest Hill residents received warning letters from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency that their drinking water has PFAS levels above state limits — two wells showed higher amounts than allowed. City officials said they will test the water until 2027 and plan to switch to Lake Michigan water by spring or summer 2030 while advising residents to use home water filters. Herald-News

- ➤ The Jefferson Street bridge in downtown Joliet closed Wednesday because an electrical short knocked out a motor and it will remain closed for weeks as state transportation officials work on the repairs — which may affect the main eastbound route and future maintenance schedules. Herald-News
