The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad is falling short of its fundraising goals for the John Whiteside Memorial Golf Outing on June 25 at Inwood Golf Course in Joliet and for a dinner at D’Amore Banquet Hall due to rising costs and lower sponsorships.
Coordinator Sharon Eck said reservations are down by one-third and some sponsors now donate only $150 instead of $1,000—raising concerns about meeting the squad’s needs for offering free ceremonial burial services to veterans.
