ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire at the IKEA warehouse at 650 Emerald Drive in Joliet on Tuesday morning caused one firefighter to be hospitalized from exhaustion — 81 firefighters with five ladder trucks, eight engines, one squad and five ambulances controlled the blaze by about 12:15 p.m. FOX 32

- ➤ On Monday at 4:13 p.m. police said a female driver was grazed on her left leg by gunfire as she drove east in an alley on the 300 block of South Water Street; officers later found spent shell casings between Water and Des Plaines streets and the driver declined hospital treatment. Herald-News

- ➤ Will County will launch a nine-week pre-apprenticeship program on May 5 to boost local construction skills. The program offers hands-on training, OSHA-10 & CPR credentials, and site visits to help workers move into union apprenticeships. Herald-News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Prime Healthcare will stop admitting patients under 18 at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet on Thursday while the pediatric emergency room remains open, and children needing hospital care will be transferred to nearby hospitals. The change, reflecting a nationwide drop in pediatric admissions, will be temporary for a year until the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board makes its final decision. Herald-News
