- ➤ Four Will County students were awarded Summer in Ireland scholarships with $4,400 each at the Knights of Columbus banquet in Joliet on April 19+ the funds will help cover tuition for the Irish Life Experience study abroad program. They will travel to Ireland from June 28 to July 23. Herald-News

- ➤ Transfer Ean Hamric is competing with Brady Davidson and Jalen Macon for NIU’s starting quarterback job during spring practices as he gears up for the season opener on Sept. 5 at Iowa — coaches will closely evaluate his aggressive play in a timed spring showcase. Herald-News
- ➤ Local high schools shone on Friday in softball, soccer, and track events with Providence defeating Montini 4-2 behind a standout performance by Macie Robbins.
