CRIME NEWS

  • A 35-year-old Joliet man, Benito Delgado, was arrested for a bank robbery earlier this week when he gave a teller a note asking for cash and stole over $2,000 without using a weapon+he was taken to Will County Jail.  FOX 32

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Dick Durbin, Illinois' longest-serving senator, announced Wednesday that he will not seek re-election in 2026 and said it is time to pass the torch. He has served since 1997 (at 80) and his retirement will open up a competitive race for his successor.  FOX 32
  • The city of Joliet led media tours of the former MyGrain Brewing Co. space at Union Station on April 23 to attract developers interested in turning the venue into a restaurant with a brewpub bonus—officials extended the request for proposals deadline to May 2 and plan to continue talks with other developers. This effort is part of broader plans to redevelop city-owned properties downtown, including the historic Loughran Building.  Herald-News
  • On April 23, the Joliet Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee approved the slogan 'Many routes, one future' and a logo that shows a tree rooted in Joliet's road, railroad, and river network, aiming to boost public input in updating the city's long-term plan. Committee members said the new brand will soon appear on social media, print materials, and promotional items as the planning process continues.  Herald-News
