CRIME NEWS

  • Family and friends held a memorial balloon release Saturday on a Mokena trail near Oakwood Drive and Townline Road for Terhan 'T3' Foster Gordon, whose remains were found in March after he was last seen in Joliet and Crest Hill, as his family hopes for justice amid an ongoing investigation.  Herald-News

  • Northern Illinois has 15 museums offering art, history, and science exhibits for all ages. In Joliet, the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum hosts interactive displays and a gift shop today (featuring memorabilia from famous artists) while regional venues invite family outings.  Herald-News
  • Shining Star will perform a tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire at Hollywood Casino Joliet’s event center on Friday, April 24 (all ages are welcome) as the band delivers classic hits with live instrumentation; tickets are available from Ticketmaster.  Herald-News

  • Alumni toured the old schools on April 18, 2026 to relive memories as Joliet Public Schools preview new Gompers and Hufford buildings funded by a $99.5 million bond — whose construction will boost safety and technology — with ribbon-cutting ceremonies set Aug. 11 and Aug. 13.  Herald-News

  • Residents are invited to Green Escape Earth Day event on Wednesday, April 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Services Community Health Center (2000 Glenwood Ave.), where environmental experts will lead sustainable planting and recycling demonstrations and offer a tree sapling after a 5 p.m. planting demo.  Herald-News
