- ➤ The Galowich Family YMCA will close April 24 and Dive Right in Scuba has proposed to repurpose the Houbolt Road site as a new facility named The Flex that will provide aquatics and youth sports – the Joliet zoning board is considering the plan today. Herald-News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood sponsored a bill to rename the Plainfield post office in honor of Staff Sgt. Jose Duenez Jr., a Joliet native killed during an Army training exercise in Lithuania in March 2025; the House approved the measure unanimously on Tuesday and it now moves to the Senate. Herald-News
- ➤ A planned vote on a 6,100-acre solar project in Manhattan, Green Garden & Wilton townships scheduled for today was delayed when Judge Breslan issued a temporary restraining order. The order requires that neighbors receive more time to present evidence & cross-examine before the vote. Herald-News

- ➤ Local schools showed great energy Wednesday as Lincoln-Way East defeated Lemont 10+4; Rocco Triolo had a strong game with 3 for 4, including a home run and four RBIs. Other teams also secured wins in softball and track at the Orange Crush Invite. Herald-News
- ➤ Marist juniors Conor Hunt and Tommy Hosty adjusted their roles during a season slowed by injuries and a tough schedule. Hunt moved from cornerback to running back after an injury while Hosty shifted from quarterback to defensive back and returned to offense as needed to help close the season. Herald-News
