  • Joliet Area Christian Women will host a pottery demonstration at Messiah Lutheran Church at 40 Houbolt Road from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 15 — featuring JoAnn Ketcik crafting art from discarded materials and Audrey Marie Hessler offering a wisdom talk.  Herald-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Recyclepalooza starts Will County’s spring recycling series on Saturday, April 18 in Joliet from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents must book an appointment (drop-off limits apply) and can look forward to more recycling events this season.  Herald-News
  • The Will County Forest Preserve District has approved trail improvements (funded by the 2025 to 2030 Capital Improvement Program), including Messenger Woods roadway reconstruction in Homer Glen, a DuPage River Trail extension in Wheatland Township, paving at Theodore Marsh in Crest Hill, and new paths in Channahon and Lockport.  Herald-News

  • Joliet Slammers announced new promotions for The Big House Ballgame on April 30 at the Old Joliet Prison. Prison-inspired jerseys will be auctioned online and the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative tin cup as part of Route 66 centennial celebrations.  Herald-News
