- ➤ The Crest Hill City Council approved a new training facility proposed by the Lockport Township Fire Protection District—including an outdoor gun range—on Monday; the 13-acre campus will host drills ranging from live fire and water rescue to K-9 training and is set to begin construction later this year with completion expected in about one year. The project, which includes sound mitigation measures using 24-foot berms to control gunshot noise, will serve multiple local law enforcement and emergency agencies without raising resident taxes. - ➤ A student at Joliet West High School was diagnosed with active tuberculosis on Monday, April 7th—school officials sent letters to students and staff who might have been exposed while the student receives treatment. ABC7 Chicago
- ➤ A Joliet West High School student was diagnosed with tuberculosis and is receiving treatment while staying home until no longer contagious, according to a school district notice from April 2. Families who were in close contact were advised to get free testing from Sunny Hill Tuberculosis Clinic — those not notified are not considered at risk. Herald-News
- ➤ Officials at Joliet West High School said a student was diagnosed with tuberculosis and is receiving treatment while the school works with Sunny Hill Tuberculosis Clinic to notify only those with prolonged close contact—families not contacted are not considered at risk, making this the second high school case in suburban Chicago after Waukegan High School confirmed a case in late March.
