  • Staff Sgt. Jose Duenez Jr. will be honored tomorrow at the Spanish Community Center (309 N. Eastern Ave) in Joliet with a ceremony unveiling memorial sign for the soldier who died in March 2025 during an Army training mission; event starts at 4:15 p.m. with doors open at 4:00 p.m.  Herald-News

  • Bright + Bloom Floral Design, formerly Blush Blooms Co., changed its name and now operates at 403 Earl Road, Units B and C in Shorewood. The boutique offers personal flower arrangements and full-scale ceremony designs for private events.  Herald-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city announced that New Lenox Road between Briggs Street and Oakview Avenue will close today due to improvements tied to the Love’s Truck Stop development — workers expect the project to last until June 30, weather permitting, and detours will be provided.  Herald-News

  • Lincoln-Way East baseball shut out Maine South on Saturday with four pitchers limiting the opponent to three hits and Colin Bettenhausen striking out three. Other local sports updates include wins in softball, soccer, and volleyball — a busy weekend for Joliet-area teams.  Herald-News
