- ➤ Severe storms swept through Chicagoland on Wednesday, leaving damage in Joliet with trees falling on Eunice Avenue and an overturned pickup truck while Joliet’s Office of Emergency & Disaster Management announced that CERT volunteers (community emergency responders) will soon be trained to report weather hazards. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Joliet agreed on Wednesday to pay Officer Cassandra Socha $287,000 to settle her lawsuit that claimed a detective purposely looked at a nude photo on her cellphone. Both sides will pay their own attorney fees and the city said the settlement does not mean it admitted wrongdoing—ending the case that began in 2018. Herald-News
