- ➤ A man and a woman were charged after a deadly hit-and-run in Joliet last December took Robert Redmond Jr.'s life on the evening of Dec. 14—James Deal turned himself in while Dominque Kennedy was arrested at her Aurora home, and both now face multiple charges with upcoming court dates. WGN-TV
- ➤ Will County investigators charged Russell Johnson, 34, of Lemont with reckless homicide after a Feb. 5 crash on West 135th Street drove his Tesla into the opposite lane—killing Sameer Gowani, 36, and Quincy Benbow, 33—and he also faces a charge of aggravated driving under the influence, having been taken to jail around 1:10 p.m. Monday. - ➤ State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr introduced HB 3037 that would allow high school athletes to join a club team or participate in charity events even when school season is on—this bill passed the House Education Committee with a 12-0 vote and will be considered by the full House soon. FOX 32
- ➤ Residents urged the Joliet City Council on Tuesday to consider term limits when neighborhood leader John Sheridan read a prepared statement during the public comment period—supporters such as candidate Glenda Wright-McCullum and councilwoman Susanna Ibarra also backed the idea and predicted strong voter support.
