- ➤ Kendall Area Transit is surveying residents in Kendall County, including Joliet, to plan future travel services for seniors, people with disabilities, and occasional riders. Its Dial-a-ride service runs Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and recently raised $1,087 — enough to add 363 rides. Herald-News

- ➤ Woodman’s Food Market is under construction in Plainfield at Illinois Route 59 and 119th Street, with a planned opening this fall around Oct. 1. The 243,500 sqft store will add gas pumps and a car wash and hire over 200 employees; most hiring begins in September (hiring starts this summer). Herald-News
