EDUCATION NEWS

  • Joliet Central High School announced its 10 finalists for the Mr. and Ms. J competition, a tradition started at Joliet Township High School (now Central Campus) in 1958. Finalists were selected based on a 3.5 GPA minimum, school involvement, and community service and will be interviewed to choose the winners.  Herald-News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Joe Matise and his wife plan to open The Matise, a banquet and music venue in the restored 19th-century St. Mary Carmelite Church in downtown Joliet this spring. The City Council will vote Tuesday on a liquor license needed for the venue at 113 N. Ottawa St.  Herald-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • IC Catholic won the IHSA Class 2A Dual Team State championship by defeating Providence Catholic on Saturday, Feb. 28. The victory marks a repeat title for the team in a closely contested match.  Herald-News
