EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Christopher Sindt, Lewis University’s provost since 2018, will assume the presidential role on July 1 at the Romeoville campus — succeeding David Livingston after a record-setting tenure marked by enrollment growth and new academic programs. Herald-News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Lockport clinched a 58-30 victory over Joliet West in the title game yesterday at Lockport Township High School East Campus — a 27-1 first half run set the tone — and will face Marist in the sectional on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Herald-News
- ➤ In Friday's regional championship game, St. Francis beat Joliet Catholic 58-54 by riding a strong finish and senior leadership. The Spartans now prepare to face Lemont on Tuesday at Hinsdale South in the sectional semis. Herald-News
- ➤ The Marquette boys basketball team won a 57-49 game (their first postseason title since 2019) in the Class 1A Serena Regional championship on Friday at Serena High School and will advance to the Amboy Sectional semifinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Herald-News
