- ➤ On Wednesday, Feb. 25, Joliet Catholic beat Elmwood Park 60-43 in a regional semifinal in Joliet and advanced to Friday’s Class 3A championship. Herald-News
- ➤ Marquette and St. Bede advanced to Friday's championship of the Class 1A Serena Regional after wins over Midland and Dwight on Wednesday night at Al Stegman Court; the finalists will meet at 7 p.m. on Friday. Herald-News
- ➤ Several local wrestlers will compete in the fifth IHSA girls state wrestling tournament this weekend at Grossinger Arena in Bloomington, including Izabel Barrera (Joliet Central) and other area representatives as athletes from local schools aim for top placements in various weight brackets. - ➤ Lincoln-Way East defeated Sandburg 54 to 39 in the Class 4A regional semifinals on Wednesday with Wes Shelby scoring 10 points. The Griffins will face top-seeded Homewood-Flossmoor next while Lincoln-Way Central and other schools also secured wins. Herald-News
- ➤ Providence beat Thorton Fractional North 65-42 in the Class 3A Hillcrest Sectional semifinal on Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Hillcrest + the team will face host Hillcrest today for the sectional title. Herald-News
- ➤ Minooka's boys basketball season ended with an 81-46 loss to Peoria Richwoods on Wednesday night at the Class 4A Regional semifinals. Richwoods will face top-seeded Rock Island in Friday's championship game. Herald-News
