EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 approved contracts for two new administrators (approved Feb. 9) for the 2026-27 school year. Dr. Jennifer Killeen will start as principal at Lincoln-Way West, and Kyle Freise will serve as technology director beginning July 1. Herald-News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crest Hill City Council approved a pilot test for PFAS filtration on Wells 10+7 to reduce forever chemical levels in drinking water. City Engineer Ron Wiedeman said proposals will be reviewed in May and tests are expected to begin this summer as part of ongoing mitigation efforts. Herald-News

- ➤ On Tuesday, the city confirmed it received a permit application from PFDA Architects to remodel the 15,000 sqft former Joann fabrics store at Joliet Commons on Plainfield Road — the permit did not specify a tenant even as local reports link the site to Trader Joe’s. Herald-News

- ➤ Newman beat Galena 42+32 on Tuesday at Eastland High School and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the Class 1A Eastland Sectional; the Comets will face Wethersfield on Thursday at 7 p.m. for the sectional title. Herald-News
- ➤ Providence girls advanced to the 3A Hillcrest Sectional championship after winning 65-42 against TF North Tuesday — Landrie Callahan scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and the title game will start Thursday at 6 p.m. Herald-News
