- ➤ Shorewood HUGS held its annual chocolate ball fundraiser – Lovely London: A Big Ben Bash – on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Hollywood Casino Joliet where guests saw a king's guard play the bugle. The event supported the nonprofit's HUGS and Wishes program that has fulfilled over 1,400 wishes. Herald-News

- ➤ The L-P boys basketball team edged Morris 48-38 on Monday, Feb. 9 at Sellette Gymnasium (L-P High), thanks to strong efforts from Erick Sotelo. The close game kept fans on the edge of their seats. Herald-News
- ➤ Over the weekend, local prep sports provided highlights as Lincoln-Way & Minooka girls won regional wrestling titles, Lincoln-Way East & Morris won state cheer championships at Grossinger Motors Arena, and Joliet West boys basketball extended its win streak to nine with a score of 76 to 61 over Plainfield East. - ➤ Monday, Dwight's boys basketball team won 79 to 57 over Serena with Joey Starks scoring 19 points; Reed-Custer's girls triumphed with a 39 to 33 win over Coal City as Jori Tucker scored 11. These high school games kept local sports fans in the know. Herald-News
- ➤ Marquette boys wrestling’s Koby Clark was named Athlete of the Week after garnering 218 (of 492) online votes and winning the 132-pound individual championship at Princeton Regional, avenging a loss from the previous week. Herald-News
