- ➤ Gov. Pritzker is reviewing whether Illinois will join a federal tuition scholarship program that offers a tax credit to help low-income families pay for private schools (up to $1,700 per donor). The program will start in 2027, and the decision comes amid concerns about public school funding. FOX 32
- ➤ Catholic Schools Week began on Jan. 25 and the Catholic Education Foundation is offering financial aid to help families cover tuition costs for Catholic schools; applications are available through FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment until April 1 with awards announced on April 15 (call 815-221-6127 for questions). - ➤ On Thursday night, Jan. 29, Romeoville hosted the Joliet West girls basketball game and Romeoville held off a late rally for the win. The contest showcased strong local teamwork in a tightly contested match. Herald-News
- ➤ Local high school wrestling teams from Joliet Catholic, Providence and Coal City are set to begin the postseason this weekend with regionals that determine advancement to sectionals and state finals. Coaches say the teams have trained diligently and are confident in a competitive weekend. Herald-News
