EDUCATION NEWS

  • Families needing Catholic education can apply for over $3 million in scholarships for the 2026–27 school year provided by the Catholic Education Foundation — eligible applicants must submit their FACTS applications with required documents by April 1.  Herald-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Serena girls basketball team defeated Indian Creek 43-22 Friday at Serena High School during the Little Ten Conference Tournament (their fifth straight championship). Junior guard Anna Hjerpe’s late 3-pointer boosted the Huskers to a nine-point halftime lead that secured the win.  Herald-News
  • Lockport defeated Lincoln-Way East 56-36 on veteran appreciation night at Lockport Township High School East Campus on Jan. 23.  Herald-News
  • Wilmington head coach Jeff Reents was named the Daily Journal Male Sports Citizen of the Year after his Wildcats won their fourth state title in 2025. His 32-year career built a respected football program that delights the community (earning him top spots in state history) and inspires local pride.  Herald-News
