- ➤ Joliet will host a revitalized Race Fan Rally and newly planned fitness classes, dancing, outdoor concerts and classic car shows at City Square and Bicentennial Park this year. Special Events Director Ann Sylvester said a full events calendar is set for release by end of January. Herald-News

- ➤ Noodles and Company announced that it will close 30 to 35 restaurants in 2026, potentially affecting locations in Bolingbrook, Frankfort, Lockport, Plainfield and Shorewood (Will County). Herald-News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marquette boys basketball team outplayed Newark with a 16-4 run in the third quarter and strong rebounding to secure a 56-41 win on Thursday at Newark High School. The win marks their third straight victory and adds to an eight-win streak in their last 10 games. Herald-News
- ➤ On Thursday night in Frankfort, the Lincoln-Way East girls basketball team defeated the visiting Lockport Porters 47-41 and avenged two earlier losses — improving their record to 14-10. The Porters, now 18-8, will visit Homewood Flossmoor Tuesday while Lincoln-Way hosts Sandburg. Herald-News
- ➤ The Plainfield South girls basketball team beat Joliet West 67-24 on Thursday night. The Cougars led by up to 31 points in the first half and improved their season record with strong defense. Herald-News
