- ➤ Jack in the Box will soon return with a new restaurant at a former Arby’s on West Jefferson St, promising ease & growth in the local fast food scene. The project follows earlier openings in Plainfield and New Lenox and may pave the way for additional Joliet locations. Herald-News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A 1908 Colt pistol, rumored to be from Capone's era, was discovered hidden in a duct beneath Thornton Distillery Company's restaurant (the oldest former brewery in Illinois). Police cleared the weapon and plan to restore it for display during guided tours at the distillery. FOX 32
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Joliet Catholic Academy will host its annual Angels and Hilltoppers Banquet featuring six MLB alumni in a Hot Stove panel on Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Student Activity Center at 1200 N. Larkin Ave — cocktails and dinner start at 5:30 p.m. with the program at 7 p.m. Herald-News

- ➤ The American Red Cross is holding blood drives in several counties amid a severe blood shortage; Joliet donors can give blood on Jan. 26 at Stepan (2900 W. Millsdale Road) and those donating by Jan. 25 will be entered for a Super Bowl LX trip drawing. Herald-News

- ➤ Joliet Catholic wrestlers delivered a strong senior-night performance last night as they dominated Marian Central (67-12) with multiple pins, and senior Jason Hampton (150th win) led the home crowd's celebration. Herald-News
- ➤ Lincoln-Way West defeated Bremen 70-60 yesterday as Drake Been hit key 3 pointers to build an early lead and teammates contributed double-figure scores. Coach Tanner Mitchell praised the team’s performance (highlighting their teamwork) in a game marked by solid first-half defense. Herald-News
