- ➤ Joliet canceled New Orleans North and Taste of Joliet for 2026 even as new special events plans are in the works. Director Ann Sylvester revealed a calendar of programs for City Square & Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park soon, while the chamber is considering a new NASCAR weekend event. Herald-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two students from the Grundy Area Vocational Center earned honors in December's Pipefitters Local 597 welding competition. Coal City senior Wyatt Koehn took third in the advanced division while Minooka Junior Alaina Austin finished tenth among 60 competitors. Herald-News
- ➤ Oswego District 308 will adjust school boundaries starting this fall to ease capacity issues at Grande Park and Southbury elementary schools plus modify feeder patterns for junior high, with a board vote set for Jan. 26. Herald-News

- ➤ The Forge in Joliet will host Botas & Brushes Sip & Paint at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, where adults can paint using provided materials and enjoy live music from Vanguardia starting at 8 p.m. Herald-News

- ➤ Bradley-Bourbonnais boys wrestling team won 41-22 at Bader Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 14, with several pins crystalizing their win while Marquette's Reilly Leifheit (his 100th win) reached a milestone. Both teams will next compete at the Comet Classic Invite in Braidwood. Herald-News
- ➤ The Joliet Catholic girls basketball team lost 41-26 to Marian Catholic on Wednesday in Chicago Heights as the Angels got within seven points in the fourth quarter but could not break their four-game losing streak; they will travel to Marist on Saturday. Herald-News
