- ➤ Brown's Chicken opened a new location at 410 S. Chicago St. on Saturday, Jan. 10, returning to the Joliet market after previous spots on Jefferson Street and South Larkin Avenue. Herald-News
- ➤ A Bolingbrook warehouse for S&S Activewear at 760 W. Crossroads Pkwy will close by year-end, affecting 195 workers; 48 were laid off on Dec. 28 and additional layoffs are planned for February & November. Herald-News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Joliet Drama Guild presents 'The Outsiders' at the Billie Limacher Centennial Park Theatre from Jan. 23-25 and Jan. 30-Feb. 1 with shows at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays, bringing S.E. Hinton's classic tale of youth and class conflict to life. Herald-News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Will County business owners adapted to the penny shortage by rounding prices up or down in stores across the area, with some adjusting totals to whole dollars while others relied on cashless transactions & digital payments. The Joliet Chamber noted that coin use is minimal. Herald-News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Reserve forward Elijiah Anderson led Bolingbrook to an 83-74 overtime win over Joliet West Tuesday night in the Southwest Prairie Conference. Anderson scored 18 points and made key free throws after a uniform change because of blood, helping his team secure a rare conference win. Herald-News
- ➤ Drake Been scored 31 points and tied the school record by sinking nine 3-pointers as Lincoln-Way West won 71-51 over Stagg on Tuesday at New Lenox. Herald-News
- ➤ Joliet Central beat host Joliet West 48-36 in a girls wrestling meet on Jan. 12 in Joliet. Photos by Laurie Fanelli captured the close competition. Herald-News
